CHARLOTTE, NC - The Chowan University women's basketball team will face off against Lincoln University in their opening game of the 2017 CIAA Tournament in Charlotte. The Hawks garnered the #1 seed out of the CIAA Northern Division after beating Virginia Union University in their final regular season game of the season. With the top seed, Chowan earned a first round bye. Lincoln University beat Shaw University in Tuesday afternoon CIAA women's bracket action to advance to the second round. 

Chowan swept Lincoln in regular season play. The Hawks hosted the Lady Lions on January 28th and came away with an 81-64 win. Jordan Payne scored a game-high 28 points and grabbed nine boards. Chantel Roberts paced the team with 16 points in a 82-64 win on February 15th. 

The winner of Wednesday's 12:10pm game will advance to the play the winner of the Virginia State/Livingstone game being played Wednesday morning at 10:00am. Wednesday's games are being played in Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte. Thursday through Saturday play will be at the Spectrum Center. For tournament bracket information, CLICK HERE.
