Box Score BOWIE, MD- The Chowan University men's basketball team fell to Bowie State University in CIAA Northern Divisional match up 74-63 on Saturday afternoon, The Hawks slipped to 16-8 overall and 8-6 in CIAA play after the loss. The Bulldogs improved to 10-14 on the season and 7-7 in conference play.
Jeremy Smith paced the Hawks with 18 points and seven rebounds while
Joe Goodwin hit for 12 points and grabbed six boards in the loss.
Kevin Kuteyi and
Carlos Arroyo chipped in 11 and nine points respectively.
Bowie State hit shots at a 50% clip in the game and held the Hawks to a 29% shooting performance. The Hawks struggled to get started offensively, hitting just 24 first half points. They battled back in the second half to outscore the Bulldogs but the first half damage was too much for the Hawks to overcome.
Leading the way for Bowie State was Brian Kelley who posted 17 points and four rebounds while, Omari George tallied 15 points and grabbed seven boards. Ahmaad Wilson also tallied 15 points for the bulldogs.
Chowan wil get back in action as they travel to Lincoln, PA on February 15
th in a match up against the Lincoln University Lions. Game time is slated for 7:30pm
