HOW IT HAPPENED

First Half:

Chowan jumped out of the gate early with a trey from Gus Rowland.  Dino Muminovic added a tip-in to give the Hawks a 5-2 lead early.

Robert Grubbs and Trevis Buckhanon added to the scoring with layups to lead 9-4.  St. Augustine's would keep the Hawks close, 10-8, until Gus Rowland knocked down a three to push the lead back to five, 13-8.

Midway through the half, the Falcons would tie the contest up at 19-all before Tim Hewett drained a shot from distance and Dino Muminovic tallied a bucket to keep the Hawks out front.  A quick 7-0 run by the Falcons flipped the lead to St. Augustine's, 26-24.  Demetrius Sanders answered at the other end with a trey to hand the lead back to the Hawks.

Battling back-and-forth down the stretch of the first half, the Falcons sprinted down the court for a last second basket to take a 33-31 lead into the locker room.

Second Half:

The Falcons continued to hold onto the lead the entire half as the Hawks cut the deficit to one on four separate occasions.

A dunk by Demetrius Sanders and two free throws by Gus Rowland started the first attack, 36-35.  Tim Hewett knocked down a three on the second wave, 41-40, before a 10-4 Falcon run allowed breathing room with 10:56 remaining in the contest.

Diamante Brown ended the run with a layup before Trevis Buckhanon's dunk and free throw brought the Hawks back to within striking distance, 52-49.

Following a Falcon basket, Dino Muminovic scored five straight points knocking down a three to cut the deficit to one for the third time, 55-54, with 5:14 remaining.

The Falcons used an 11-4 run over the next 2:47 to grab their largest lead of the contest, 66-58.

Chowan knocked down six free throws but was unable to get the margin under four as three point attempts by Tim Hewett, Dino Muminovic, and Robert Grubbs were unable to fall.
