MURFREESBORO, NC - The Chowan University men's basketball squad is set to host Salem International on Wednesday night at the Helms Center. The non-conference match-up is set to tip off at 7:30pm.
The Hawks are coming off a 72-68 loss to Johnson C. Smith University on January 5th, 2017. Johnson C. Smith's Christian Kirchman hit a lay up with :24 ticks on the game clock to give the home standing Golden Bulls a one point lead and eventual 72-68 win. The Hawks dropped to 8-3 overall and 3-1 in the CIAA after the game.
Jeremy Smith paced the Hawks with 19 points and nine rebounds while teammate
Kevin Kuteyi chipped in 15 points.
Salem International has lost their last seven games in a row and enter the contest at 1-14 on the year. They suffered a 90-78 loss to Bluefield State on January 7th.
Chowan remains unbeaten at home this season with a perfect 7-0 home court record. CU's Head Coach,
Brett Vincent, is excited to get back to playing after weather forced two postponments over the weekend.
""We are looking forward to being home," stated Vincent. Although Salem International comes in with a 1-14 record, Vincent and his squad are not taking the non-conference game lightly. "Salem International is a difficult to play. They spread the floor and create space to play in."
