Box Score MURFREESBORO- The Chowan University women's lacrosse team suffered their second setback in as many days with a 15-5 loss to Newberry College on Monday afternoon. The Hawks fall to 0-6 on the season while the Wolves improve to 4-1 on the year with the victory.
Rachel Dillon led all players in the contest with five goals in the win for Newberry. Jessica Baxtrom added four goals with Kylee Shoop adding three scores. Alexis Kahler, Helen Kuhn and Maddie Campbell each added one goal apiece in the contest. Brandy Bowman collected six saves for the Wolves.
Mackenzie Reid led the effort for the Hawks with two goals in the setback.

Adriea Herndon, and
Tyra Simons each scored one goal for the Chowan Blue and White over the course of the afternoon.
Haley Haggard made 13 saves in goal for the Hawks.
The Wolves rattled off six unanswered goals in the first twelve minutes of play before Escobar found the back of the net for the Hawks at the 16:35 mark using an assist from Herndon. Campbell answered with a score for Newberry before Reid took advantage of a free position shot with 9:51 on the clock to make the score 7-2. Shoop, Dillon and Koon each added a score before the end of the first period, leaving the Hawks trailing 10-2 heading into halftime.
Chowan rallied at the start of the second half, with Simons, Herndon and Reid all scoring in the first seven minutes of play to shift the momentum in favor of the Hawks. Holding a 10-5 advantage, Newberry closed out the second period with five unanswered goals by four different players to secure the 15-5 win.
The Hawks compete at home again on Thursday as Chowan plays host to Edinboro. First draw is slated for 3:00pm.
