Box Score FERRUM, VA- The Chowan University women's lacrosse team dropped a 12-9 decision on the road against Ferrum College on Tuesday afternoon. The Hawks slide to 1-8 on the season with the setback while the Panthers improve to 4-7 on the year with the victory.

Adriea Herndon led the Hawks with four goals in the loss. Victoria Baez-Quiroz added three goals in the setback with Jennifer Caird and Cindy Escobar each finding the back of the net once for the Chowan Blue and White.

Julianne Bove led all players in the contest with seven goals in the victory. Audrey Ramsey notched two scores while Shyanne Carr, Haley Overstreet, and McKenzie Truini each scored once for the Panthers in the contest.

Herndon opened the contest with a goal just four minutes into the game to give Chowan an early 1-0 lead. Two goals by Ferrum left the Hawks trailing 2-1 at the 22:17 mark. Herndon took advantage of a free position shot two minutes later to knot the score before two goals by Bove pushed the Panthers ahead 4-2 midway through the first period. Escobar used an assist from Arlayne Rattley to pull the Hawks within striking distance but Bove responded with two unanswered goals to lift Ferrum ahead 6-3 heading into halftime.

Ferrum came out firing after the halftime break, scoring six goals by four different players to pull away 12-3 with 16:50 left in the game. Down but not out, Chowan rallied using three goals by Baez-Quiroz, two scores by Herndon, and one by Caird to make the score 12-9. Ultimately, the Hawks ran out of time and Ferrum secured the 12-9 victory.

Haley Haggard made seven saves in goal for Chowan while Graceanne Gershner recorded five saves for Ferrum.

The Hawks return to action on March 26^th in a 1:00pm road contest against Young Harris College.
