Box Score ELKINS, WV- The Chowan University women's lacrosse team picked up their first win of the season on Saturday afternoon in a 19-8 win over Davis & Elkins College. The Hawks move to 1-7 on the year while the Senators move to 1-2 in their inaugural season.

Mackenzie Reid paced the Hawks with eight goals in the victory while Adriea Herndon added five goals. Jasmine Latney found the back of the net three times for the Chowan Blue and White while Jennifer Caird, Cindy Escobar and Tyra Simons each added a score in the win.

Gabby Fagan recorded three goals for the Senators with McKenzie Morton and Grayson Blythe notching two goals apiece. Jessica Kerns added one goal for Davis & Elkins in the setback.

Herndon opened the contest with an unassisted goal before Kern answered with a goal at the 27:21 mark to tie the score 1-1. Chowan answered with five goals, four of which came from Reid, to take a 6-1 lead by the midway point of the first period. Davis & Elkins responded with one goal from Morton and two from Blythe to cut the deficit to 6-4 by the 7:49 mark.

Chowan used a score from Simons, two from Reid and one from Escobar to head into halftime with a 10-4 advantage.

Fagan opened the second period with a score for the Senators before Chowan took off on a 5-0 run to pull away 15-5 with 22:11 left to play. Morton ended the scoring drought for Davis & Elkins before goals by Herndon and Reid gave the Hawks a commanding 17-6 lead. Fagan found the back of the net twice before the end of the game but Herndon and Latney each added a score to secure the 19-8 win for the Chowan Blue and White.

The Hawks return to action on March 22^nd in a road match against Ferrum College. First draw is slated for 4:00pm.
