Bobcats Down Hawks

Tina White hit a homerun for the Hawks on Sunday.
Box Score SALEM, VA- The Chowan University softball team concluded play at the West Virginia Wesleyan Tournament on Sunday afternoon with a 9-3 loss against West Virginia Wesleyan.  The Hawks slide to 11-12 on the season while the Bobcats improve to 18-2 on the year with the win. 

West Virginia Wesleyan scored three runs in their first at-bat after a three-run homerun by Olivia Gore.  Sara Scoone's RBI single in the second gave the Bobcats a 4-0 lead.  A homerun by Haley Cox in the fourth and Tina White's solo homerun in the fifth put the Hawks on the board but Morgan Bruce's three-run blast left Chowan trailing 7-2 in the bottom of the frame.

West Virginia Wesleyan plated two additional runs in the seventh with Carly Gregory's RBI single and a groundout by Scoone.  Katrina Simmons scored in the bottom of the seventh but the damage was done and the Bobcats secured the 9-3 win. 

Hannah Vet picked up the win on the mound for West Virginia Wesleyan while Kayla Robins took the loss for the Chowan Blue and White.

The Hawks return to action March 18th-20th to compete in the CIAA Round-Up in Raleigh, North Carolina.
