Marquis Hines opened the contest with a layup for the Falcons and January added a basket to leave the Hawks trailing 4-0 early in the first half.  After battling through nine ties in the first twenty minutes of play, a layup by Kortez Smith at the buzzer gave the Hawks a narrow 29-27 lead heading into halftime.

Chowan clung to the lead in the first five minutes of the second half before a free throw and jumper by Hines along with a basket by January gave the Falcons a 38-33 edge with 14:28 left to play.

The Falcons maintained control for nearly the entire second half before a late run shifted the momentum in favor of the Hawks.  With Saint Augustine's holding a 58-52 advantage, Kortez Smith single-handedly orchestrated a 7-0 run with a three-pointer, jumper, and a layup to send the Hawks ahead 59-58 with 1:09 on the clock.  The Falcons were unable to capitalize in their final possession of the contest, resulting in the win for the Hawks.
