Box Score MURFREESBORO- The Chowan University men's soccer team and the Seton Hill University Griffins battled through two overtime periods on Sunday afternoon before ending the contest with a 0-0 draw.
The Hawks and Griffins matched each other shot for shot, with each team tallying 22 shots apiece in the contest. Chowan had five shots on frame while Seton Hill tallied four shots on goal over the course of the competition.Â
Jason Bradbury led the effort with six shots, three on goal, while
Christian Funes followed with four shots and one on frame. Franciso Ferrus added a shot on goal for the Chowan Blue and White and
Jordan Radisavljevic tallied three shots in the contest.Â
Curtis Gallagher paced the Griffins with six shots in the game. Scott Fox, Louis Mason, Clint Mcelheny and Colin Watkins each accounted for one shot on goal for Seton Hill.Â
Cameron Evans made five saves in goal for the Griffins while
Marco Lujan tallied four saves for the Hawks.
The first period was closely contested with neither team able to take firm control of the momentum.   Five different Griffins accounted for six total shots in the first period, with one shot on frame. Bradbury and
Terell Williamson each had two shots in the first period for the Chowan Blue and White with Bradbury forcing Evans to make a save before halftime.Â
In the second period, the Hawks controlled the momentum with an 11-8 advantage in the shot count. The Hawks had four shots on goal in the second period while the Griffins tallied just one shot on frame. Neither team was able to find the back of the net in regulation, forcing overtime.Â
Both teams showed solid defense in the first overtime period, with neither team able to muster a shot on goal. In the second overtime, the Griffins outshot the Hawks 6-4 with two shots on goal, but another solid performance by Lujan prevented Seton Hill from scoring the game-winner.Â
Sunday's game concluded a five game home stand for the Hawks. Chowan hits the road for four straight contests before returning home on October 5
th to take on Salem International. The Hawks travel to Shepherd University in their next outing. Match time is slated for 3:00pm on September 21
st.Â
Chowan stands 3-1-1 on the season while Seton Hill posts a 2-2-1 record on the year after Sunday's contest.Â
