MURFREESBORO, N.C. – Throughout the 2026-2027 Chowan Athletic season, the Chowan Athletic Department will feature the Ace Hardware Student-Athletes of the Week. For the week of September 9 – September 16, Andre Camargo from the men's soccer team and Alexa Fricker of the volleyball team, have been recognized for their standout performances over the past week of competition.

Freshman Andre Camargo has shown up big for the Hawks in the last three matches during the week, helping Chowan go unbeaten with a draw against Emory & Henry followed by back-to-back conference wins over Erskine and Barton. Camargo opened the stretch with one shot in Chowan's 1-1 draw against Emory & Henry before delivering a five-point performance against Erskine. After assisting Clayton Verdin on the go-ahead goal in the 27th minute, Camargo found the back of the net twice in a span of just over two minutes in the second half to help secure Chowan's first win of the season, 6-2. He finished the match with two goals, one assist, seven shots and five shots on goal. Camargo carried that production into the Hawks' 8-0 shutout of Barton, scoring twice and adding an assist for his second consecutive five-point performance. He scored Chowan's final goal of the first half, assisted Robbie Deighan early in the second and added another goal less than five minutes later. Camargo led the Hawks with six shots and placed three on goal. Over the three-match stretch, he totaled four goals, two assists and 10 points, with all four goals and both assists coming during Chowan's back-to-back conference victories.

Freshman Alexa Fricker put together a strong three-match stretch for the Hawks, leading Chowan offensively and also contributing defensively in each contest against Barton, Lees-McRae and King. Fricker opened the week by recording a team-high eight kills while adding nine digs and two block assists in Chowan's 3-0 sweep of Barton, helping the Hawks earn their first victory over the Bulldogs since 2022 and open conference play 1-0. She followed with 15 kills, 12 digs and a team-high three service aces in a five-set match against Lees-McRae. Fricker closed out the week against King with another team-high performance, producing 16 kills and 12 digs as the Hawks pushed the Tornado to five sets. Across the three conference matches, Fricker totaled 39 kills and 33 digs, including back-to-back double-doubles to close out the week, while helping Chowan compete through 13 sets.
