GOLDSBORO, NC- The Chowan University men's golf team competed in the third and final round of play at the Mount Olive Invitational on Tuesday afternoon. The Hawks finished in 12
th place out of 13 teams competing in the tournament. Chowan combined for a team score of 963 over the course of the three-round, two-day competition.
Limestone College won the Mount Olive Invitational. The Saints clinched the title with a three-round, two-day score of 862 and held an eight stroke advantage over runner-up, UNC Pembroke. Griffin Brown of Limestone College took home individual medalist honors. After carding scores of 70 and 73 in Monday's rounds, Brown shot a 68 in the final round to edge teammate Matt Mullarkey, who finished in second place by a mere stroke.
Jordan Francis finished in 30
th place individually for the Chowan Blue and White. He shot a 78 in the third round after posting scores of 76 and 71 in the first two rounds, respectively. After carding an 84 in the opening round,
Billy Britton battled back to shoot 75 on the final day of play. He shot an even-par on the back nine and ended the tournament in 59
th place in the 69-golfer field.
Rich Edwards turned in an 86 in the final round to finish in 64
th place overall. He shot an 83 in the first round on Monday and a 78 in the second round.
Sean Wilson opened play at the Mount Olive Invitational with a 79 in the first round. His second round score (87) and third round score (97) resulted in a 67
th place individual finish in the field.
Ryan Baker carded an 87 for the Hawks on Tuesday. He shot an 85 in the first round and a 93 in the second round and finished in 68
th place individually.
With the regular season in the books, the Hawks will take a week off from competition to prepare for the CIAA Championship, scheduled April 15
th-17
th in Charlotte, North Carolina.
