Box Score MURFREESBORO – The Chowan University lacrosse team picked up a 20-6 victory over the University of the District of Columbia on Saturday afternoon. The Hawks improve to 2-4 on the season while the Firebirds slide to 0-4 on the young season.
Mackenzie Reid led all players in the game with seven goals in the win.
Charisse Wilcox and
Adriea Herndon each tallied four goals for the Chowan Blue and White while
Kamile Smith and
Tyra Simons each added two scores.
Cindy Escobar also found the back of the net for the Hawks in the victory.
Dominique Dotson paced the Firebirds with four goals in the loss while Amber Walls contributed two scores for the University of the District of Columbia.
Escobar put the Hawks on the board with a goal with 27:20 on the clock. Back-to-back goals on free position shots by Reid gave Chowan a 3-0 advantage. Walls answered back for the Fireboards with an unassisted goal at the 21:29 mark. The Hawks responded with four answered goals by four different Hawks to pull away 1-1 by the 15:44 mark. Dotson scored twice for the Firebirds to cut the deficit to 7-3 but Chowan took a 9-4 lead heading into halftime.
The second period was all about Chowan as the Hawks outscored the Firebirds 11-2 in the remainder of the contest. Chowan easily clinched the 20-6 victory on their home field with Rachel Cramer tallying seven saves in the contest.
The Hawks return to action on March 23
rd when they host Truett-McConnell. First draw is slated for 4:00pm.
