Box Score SALISBURY, NC- The Chowan University men's basketball team fell to Livingstone College 86-79 on Monday evening.  The Hawks move to 9-6 overall after the setback and 3-3 in league play while the Blue Bears improve to 9-6 on the season and 3-3 against CIAA competition.  

Josh Mellette led the Hawks with 22 points and 10 rebounds (five offensive, five defensive).  Warren Powers followed with 18 points while Mark Anthony Buright chipped in 11 points.

Ty Newman led all players in the game with 24 points while Eric Mayo and Dwight Williams added 13 points in the win for Livingstone. 

Chowan jumped out to a 6-0 lead early in the contest.  Livingstone battled back against the Hawks until the 12:07 mark when Newman's three-pointer restored the advantage (15-13) to the Blue Bears. The Hawks were unable to recover and trailed by as many as 23 points in the first half (49-26) and headed into halftime with a 49-30 deficit.

Livingstone continued to add to the momentum in the second half.  Chowan used a 10-0 run late in the game to pull within seven points, 71-64, at the 5:14 mark, but suffered the 86-79 setback.
