Box Score CALIFORNIA, PA- The Chowan University men's soccer team earned their second consecutive win on Sunday afternoon with a 2-1 victory over California University of Pennsylvania. The Hawks improve to 5-2 on the year with the win while the Vulcans slide to 2-5-1 with the setback.
In the 19
th minute of play,
Brandon Myers found the back of the net for the Hawks using
Christian Funes' corner kick. With a 1-0 lead, a foul by the Vulcans led to a penalty kick for the Hawks. Funes capitalized on the opportunity, scoring a goal for Chowan to extend the Hawks' lead to 2-0 in the 32
nd minute of play.
The Vulcans answered back after halftime when Jeffrey Keyi used Brad Colvin's cross to score for California (PA). The Vulcans' goal in the 55
th minute would be their last in the contest as the Hawks closed out the game with the 2-1 victory.
Chowan had seven shots in the contest, four of which were on goal. California (PA) had 12 shots in the loss.
Marco Lujan made three saves in goal for the Hawks.
Chowan takes on Salem International University in their next outing. The contest is slated for October 3
rd at 3:00pm in Salem, West Virginia.
