Box Score BANNER ELK, NC- The Chowan University women's lacrosse team came up short in a 19-10 shoot out against Lees-McRae on Saturday afternoon. The loss puts the Hawks at 3-8 on the season while the Bobcats move to 5-6 on the year.
Mackenzie Reid and
Charisse Wilcox each tallied four goals in the effort while
Adriea Herndon and
Molly Clever each added a score for the Blue and White. Katelin Rooney, Taylor Drake and Jenah Tracy scored five goals apiece to lead the Bobcats to victory. Ximena Dupont notched two goals while Callie Gregg and Kirsten English added one additional score apiece.
The Hawks were out-shot 43-19 in the contest. Rachel Cramer made 16 saves in goal for Chowan.
The Bobcats jumped to a 3-0 lead before Wilcox found the back of the net for Chowan at the 22:00 mark in the first half. Herndon, Wilcox and Reid notched goals in the first half for Chowan but the Hawks still headed into halftime trailing 9-4.
Wilcox and Reid opened the second half with scores within one minute of each other to cut the deficit to 9-6. A score by the Bobcats with 23:35 left to play left the Hawks trailing 10-6 before a goal by Reid at the 23:13 mark gave Chowan some momentum. Herndon and Wilcox found the back of the net once more before the conclusion of the contest but Lees-McRae powered past the Hawks 19-10 to secure the win.
Chowan returns to action on April 7
th when they host Coker College. First draw is slated for 3:00pm at the upper field.
