Lady Rams Blank Hawks

Liz Hipple had two hits for the Hawks in Thursday's loss to Winston-Salem State.
Box Score PETERSBURG, VA- The Chowan University softball team came up short in a tight 2-0 decision against Winston-Salem State University on Thursday evening in the CIAA Tournament.  The Hawks will face elimination on Friday morning as they take on the Lady Broncos of Fayetteville State University at 10:00am at the Petersburg Sports Complex.  The Lady Rams advance to the semifinals with the victory. 
 
Frances Edgerton hit solo homerun over the center field fence in the bottom of the second to give Winston-Salem State a 1-0 lead.  Kiah Ruffin hit an RBI single to right in the home half of the fifth to extend the Lady Rams' advantage to 2-0.  The Hawks were unable to respond offensively and suffered the setback. 
 
Liz Hipple had two hits for the Hawks while Kayla Brady, Tori Cragan and Chandler Bridges each tallied one hit apiece. 
 
Courtney Groce took the loss on the mound while Mercedes Hargett picked up the win for the Lady Rams.
