Emmanuel Edges Chowan

Mackenzie Reid and Charisse Wilcox each had three goals for the Hawks on Sunday.
Box Score MURFREESBORO, NC- The Chowan University women's lacrosse team fell to 3-9 on the season after suffering an 11-8 setback against the visiting Lions of Emmanuel College on Sunday afternoon.  The Lions even their record at 9-9 after the victory. 
 
Megan Hart led all players in the contest with five goals.  Allie Brock and Alyssa Austin added two goals apiece for the Lions while Haley Larson and Savannah Gratz each added a score. 
 
Mackenzie Reid and Charisse Wilcox both had three goals for Chowan.  Tyra Simmons added a score for the Hawks and an own goal by the Lions provided Chowan with an additional score over the course of the competition. 
 
With the score tied 2-2 at the 26:10 mark, the Lions scored four unanswered goals (three scored by Hart), to pull away 6-2.  Wilcox broke the scoring drought for the Hawks at the 8:21 mark with an unassisted goal and Simmons made good on a free position shot to make the score 6-4 with 7:24 remaining before halftime.  Another score by Hart for the Lions gave Emmanuel a 7-4 lead at the end of the first half. 
 
Chowan and Emmanuel matched each other goal-for-goal in the second half, but the Hawks were unable to overcome the deficit.  Both teams found the back of the net within the first six minutes of the second half, but a goal by Wilcox followed by an own goal by the Lions brought the Hawks within one (8-7) at the 13:17 mark. 
 
Holding on to a 9-8 lead with 8:33 on the clock, Brock added a score for Emmanuel and Larson found the back of the net with 1:03 remaining in the game to secure the 11-8 win for the Lions. 
 
The Hawks return to action on April 16th when they host Brevard in their final game of the season.  First draw is slated for 4:00pm.
