CU Softball Drops Two in Home Season Opener

CU's Tori Cragan went 4-5 in today's doubleheader vs. UVA-Wise
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 MURFREESBORO - The Chowan University softball team moved to 0-13 on the season after dropping a doubleheader to UVA-Wise on Friday afternoon. The Hawks fell 9-1 in the first game and dropped the nightcap 10-1. UVA-Wise improved to 6-3 after the games. 

Alora Lincoln started the first game on the mound for the Hawks. She tossed three innings, giving up eight hits, six earned runs, and struck out two. Chowan tallied six hits with Tori Cragan getting three of those hits. Cragan ended the game 3-3 with an RBI. UVA-Wise scored five runs in the second inning to help propel them to the 9-1 win. 

The Cavaliers exploded for a 10 runs in the top of the first inning of the nightcap game and cruised to a 10-1 win. They tallied 16 hits in the win. For Chowan, Leigh Ward ended the game 1-1 with two walks. Cragan and Brooke Bowen went 1-2 in the loss. 

The Hawks will hit the field again on Sunday, March 2nd against West Chester University. Game time has been moved up to 10:00am at Hawks Field.
