Hawks Power Past Methodist

Mackenzie Reid scored seven goals for Chowan on Saturday.
Box Score MURFREESBORO, NC- The Chowan University women's lacrosse team earned their second straight win of the season with an 18-7 victory over the visiting Monarchs of Methodist University on Saturday afternoon.  The Hawks improve to 2-1 on the season while the Monarchs slip to 0-3. 
 
The Hawks outshot the Monarchs 36-12 in the contest and collected 26 ground balls in comparison to 10 by Methodist. 
 
Mackenzie Reid scored seven goals in the win for Chowan.  Charisse Wilcox and Adriea Herndon followed with three of their own. Sierra Burston each tallied two goals for the Blue and Whitte while Molly Clever, Cindy Escobar and Tyra Simmons tacked on an additional score for the Hawks.  Haley Haggard earned the win for the Hawks in goal.
 
The Monarchs were led by Hope Motahari who scored three goals in the loss.  Cassie Walter added two to help the cause while Bianca Terenzi and Sareena Coleman both contributed a goal. 
 
The Hawks jumped out to a 4-0 lead within the first five minutes of the contest.  The Monarchs responded with four unanswered goals to knot the score 4-4.  Chowan tacked on three straight goals after that and enjoyed a 7-5 lead heading into halftime. 
 
The second half was all about Chowan as the Hawks outscored Methodist 11-2 after halftime, allowing them to easily take the 18-7 victory. 
 
Chowan returns to action on February 26th when they host Coker College.  First draw is slated for 5:00pm.
