Box Score MURFREESBORO- The Chowan University women's soccer team dropped a 6-1 decision to Southern Virginia on Wednesday afternoon. The Hawks slide to 0-8 on the season while the Knights improve to 3-5-2 with the win.
A breakaway goal by Tatiana Monsen 13 minutes into the contest led to a 1-0 lead for the Knights early in the first half. Sierra Sorenson was credited with the assist on Monsen's goal.
Jamilla Gambee extended Southern Virginia's lead to 2-0 just ten minutes later when she sent the ball into the far post. Monsen struck again for the Knights in the 26
th minute with a breakaway goal.
In the 66
th minute of the contest, Valerie Cruz pushed Southern Virginia's lead to 4-0 with a goal into the near post. Monsen was credited with the assist.
Less than ten minutes later,
Sierra Hargraves' shot was tipped into the goal by the Knights' keeper, making the score 4-1.Southern Virginia added two goals before time expired; one by Gambee and one by Shirley Maroles-Llan, before securing the 6-1 victory.
The Hawks were outshot 45-2 on the afternoon.
Marissa Ghani made 12 saves in goal for the Blue and White while Makenzie Cox made one save for the Knights.

th when they host Goldey-Beacom in a 1:00pm contest.
