Box Score DANVILLE, NC- The Chowan University men's soccer team dropped a 5-1 decision to Averett on Sunday afternoon.  The loss pulls the Hawks to 0-6 on the season while the Cougars move to 4-5-1. 

Christopher Jordan put the Cougars on the board in the 7^th minute of the contest when he netted Adil Iich's pass into the top left corner of the goal.  Iich scored a goal of his own in the 18^th minute off an assist from Jordan to extend Averett's lead to 2-0. 

In the 24 minute of the contest, Averett's keeper Martin Erenstedt attempted to clear the ball, but a rebound off a Cougar player resulted in an own goal for Averett, making the score 2-1. 

The Hawks held the Cougars at bay until the 62^nd minute of play when Nathan Brown scored an unassisted goal into the near post.  Anton Andersson added a score for Averett in the 76^th minute when he bent a shot into the near corner off a pass from Benjy Slaytor.  Less than thirty seconds later, Andersson scored again off a cross from Brown to confirm the 5-1 victory. \

Chowan keeper Jax Eddleman made two saves in the loss.  Grayson Smith added five saves in the contest.  Paul Kamara notched three of the Hawks' six shots on goal in the loss.  

The Hawks return to Murfreesboro on October 2^nd when they play host to Catawba College in a 4:00pm match-up.
