Box Score DANVILLE, NC- The Chowan University men's soccer team dropped a 5-1 decision to Averett on Sunday afternoon. The loss pulls the Hawks to 0-6 on the season while the Cougars move to 4-5-1.
Christopher Jordan put the Cougars on the board in the 7
th minute of the contest when he netted Adil Iich's pass into the top left corner of the goal. Iich scored a goal of his own in the 18
th minute off an assist from Jordan to extend Averett's lead to 2-0.
In the 24 minute of the contest, Averett's keeper Martin Erenstedt attempted to clear the ball, but a rebound off a Cougar player resulted in an own goal for Averett, making the score 2-1.
The Hawks held the Cougars at bay until the 62
nd minute of play when Nathan Brown scored an unassisted goal into the near post. Anton Andersson added a score for Averett in the 76
th minute when he bent a shot into the near corner off a pass from Benjy Slaytor. Less than thirty seconds later, Andersson scored again off a cross from Brown to confirm the 5-1 victory. \

Grayson Smith added five saves in the contest.
Paul Kamara notched three of the Hawks' six shots on goal in the loss.
