Tigers Power Past Hawks

Dale Pearson scored his first goal of the season on Tuesday afternoon.
Box Score MURFREESBORO, NC- The Chowan University men's soccer team fell to the visiting Tigers of Salem International University 5-2 on Tuesday afternoon.  The loss puts the Hawks at 0-5 on the year while the Tigers even their record 3-3 with the win. 
 
Tomas Szabo scored the first goal of the contest when he headed the ball into an open net off a foul kick from Michael Brunton in the 24th minute of the contest.  The Tigers maintained the 1-0 lead throughout the entire first half. 
 
Ten minutes into the second half, Leonardo De Meo added a score for the Tigers when he netted an unassisted goal into the far post.  The Hawks answered back almost immediately when Paul Kamara used a fast break to his advantage to drive the ball into the far post.
 
In the 67th minute, Vukasin Terzic scored off De Meo's assist to give the Tigers a 3-1 lead.  Just three minutes later, Szabo netted another goal off a cross from De Meo to extend the Tigers' advantage to 4-1. 
 
Dale Pearson responded for Chowan in the 73rd minute when he netted his first goal of the season off a deflection from Salem International's goalie Elliot Cook.  Mohamed Bakayoko secured the 5-2 win for the Tigers when he scored an unassisted goal in the 81st minute of the contest. 
 
The Hawks travel to Averett University on September 29th for a 1:00pm contest.  They'll return for a three game homes stand on October 2nd to take on Catawba College. Game time is slated for 4:00pm.
