Box Score MURFREESBORO, NC- The Chowan University volleyball team enjoyed their first win of the season on Saturday morning with a 3-0 victory over the St. Augustine's Lady Falcons.  Saturday's match was the first of three to be played this weekend for the Hawks in the CIAA Round-Up, hosted by Chowan.

The Hawks started off the first set with a quick 3-0 lead before allowing St. Augustine's to come within one point.  A kill by Brianna Smith for Chowan led to six straight points, giving the Hawks a 9-2 advantage.  St. Augustine's scored on the next play, but from that point on Chowan remained in control as the Lady Falcons failed to score consecutive points for the remainder of the set.

After the Hawks captured the first set 25-8, they kept the momentum rolling to earn an early 4-1 lead in set two.  St. Augustine's answered back to win six of the next 7 points to take a 7-5 advantage over Chowan.  Trailing 8-6, the Hawks recovered to score five straight points to take an 11-8 lead.  The Hawks maintained the lead for the remainder of the set taking advantage of numerous Lady Falcon errors to pick up the 25-15 win.

The third and final set was much like the second, with both teams exchanging points early on.  With the score tied 4-4, a kill by Kelsey Schlake gave the Hawks a 5-4 lead.  Chowan maintained the lead for the remainder of the set, and secured the 25-15 win.
