Box Score LINCOLN, PA- The Chowan University football team snapped a three game losing streak on Saturday afternoon in a historic 77-14 thrashing of the Lions of Lincoln University (PA). The 77 points scored breaks the school record set in 2012 in a 70-35 win over Livingstone College (9/1/2012).
Robert Holland ended his career for the Blue and White in historic fashion. Holland completed his career as Chowan's all-time leading receiver with school records in nine categories. He owns the single season reception record (86, 2009), single season reception yards (1,318, 2013), career receptions (325), career receiving yards (4,356), career touchdowns (43), career points (276), single game receiving yards (278, vs. Lincoln (PA), 2013), single game receptions (18 vs. Shaw, 2009), and tied the single game receiving touchdowns record (4, set by James Fox against Johnson C. Smith, 2008). Additionally, his 325 career receptions shatter the CIAA receiving record set by Virginia State's Damon Thompson (268, 1997-2000). Most notably, Holland now owns the NCAA Division II career reception record. His 325 career receptions edges Clarence Coleman's record of 323 set from 1998-2001 (Ferris State).
He led all players in Saturday's contest with 13 receptions for 278 yards and four touchdowns in the victory.
Ryan Simpson had 18 carries totaling 160 yards and two touchdowns.

JJ Rodriguez,
DaSean Martin,
Ryan Nolan, and
JR Williams all scored for the Hawks as well.
Dain McFarland and Simpson combined to complete 21-28 passes, accumulate 339 passing yards, and six touchdowns in the victory.
The Hawks' defense held the Lions to two scores over the course of the afternoon. The defensive effort was led by
DaKorion DeSamme who collected seven tackles (five solo, two assisted, and two pass breakups).
Jared Turner hauled in three interceptions while
Sidney Hilliard grabbed two of his own added by one apiece by
Chris Morris and
Anthony Prince.
Lincoln (PA) grabbed an early 7-0 lead when a 39 yard rush by Doug Cook and point after attempt by Kyle Jaski put the Lions in the driver's seat. Chowan responded with a five play, 52 yard scoring drive capped by McFarland's 16 yard pass to Simpson and point after attempt to tie the game 7-7 at the end of the first quarter.
The Hawks scored four times in the second quarter, first with Simpson's short three yard pass to Nolan in the end zone, followed by a 30 yard touchdown pass from McFarland to Holland, and a 19 yard rush by Williams. Martin's 30 yard run capped a three play 50 yard scoring drive giving Chowan their fourth score of the quarter.
Nick Hahula made good on all four point after attempts giving Chowan a commanding 35-7 lead heading into halftime.
With 1:20 remaining in the third quarter, McFarland and Simpson combined to find Holland three times over the course of a three play, 68 yard scoring drive. Holland hauled in 68 receiving yards en route to the touchdown and point after attempt which resulted in a 42-7 lead for the Hawks.
Lincoln (PA) responded to the Hawks' offensive outbreak with a quick strike drive. Cook hit Anthony Green for a 63 yard pass to move the ball to Chowan's 24 yard line. Steve Gilliam rushed the ball 22 yards down to the 2 yard line. Khari Nguzi capped the drive with a 2 yard touchdown run. Kyle Jaski's point after attempt was good making the score 42-14 in favor of the Hawks.
Chowan was relentless in their attack for the remainder of the contest. Simpson found Holland on a 31 yard touchdown pass, for a 49-14 lead before Hilliard's interception on Lincoln's 23 yard line put the Hawks ahead 56-14. The Hawks scored two more times before the end of the third quarter. They used McFarland's 36 yard touchdown pass to Holland and a 26 yard run by Simpson for a 70-14 lead heading into the final quarter.
The Hawks used their first drive of the fourth quarter to add another score. Rodriguez closed out a 5 play, 53 yard drive with a 22 yard touchdown run for Chowan. Hahula made good on the point after attempt, his eleventh of the contest to solidify the 77-14 win.
The Hawks close out the 2013 season with a 4-6 overall mark and 3-4 finish in CIAA action. The Lions fall to 1-9 overall and 0-7 in league play.
