Trojans Rally for Overtime Victory over Chowan

Pedro Aiala scored a goal for the Hawks on Tuesday.
Box Score MOUNT OLIVE, NC- The Chowan University men's soccer team battled with Mount Olive through regulation before falling 2-1 to the Trojans in overtime on Tuesday evening.  The loss drops the Hawks to 0-11 on the season while Mount Olive improves to 2-10 overall.    Chowan's overtime loss to the Trojans is the second in as many outings for the Hawks. 
 
Pedro Aiala put the Hawks on the board in the 17th minute of play when he used Dale Pearson's corner kick to give Chowan a 1-0 lead.  The Hawks hung onto the lead through the rest of the first half and the majority of the second half. 
 
After being shut-out for nearly 88 minutes of play, the Trojans scored their two goals in a smap of less than four minutes of playing time.  With two minutes left in regulation, Fernando Tacuri found the back of the net when he used Josiah Saydee's cross to draw Hawks' keeper Grayson Smith out of the box. 
 
A Hawk foul two minutes into overtime resulted in a free kick for the Trojans.  Tyler Vandevender capitalized on the opportunity and sent the ball past a diving keeper to earn the victory for Mount Olive.
