Box Score LINCOLN, PA- The Chowan University volleyball team picked up their second CIAA Northern Division win in as many days against the Lady Lions of Lincoln University (PA) on Monday evening. The Hawks move to 12-3 overall and 12-1 in CIAA play with the victory while the Lady Lions fall to 2-12 on the year and 2-11 in league competition.
Nikira Fults led all players in the contest with 12 kills in the victory.
Kelsey Schlake collected 28 assists while
Cindy Ehrich notched 15 digs. Cynthia Johnson and Jillian Lee each accounted for six kills for Lincoln while Shanna King collected 15 assists. Sydney Cook hauled in 20 digs.
Chowan used a 5-0 run midway through the first set en-route to a 13-5 lead. The Lady Lions strung together a 6-1 run of their own to inch the score to 14-11. Although Lincoln (PA) stayed close on the Hawks' heels, Chowan closed out the set with four straight points thanks to a kill and service ace from Fults and two kills from
Suraya Chase to earn the 25-20 victory.
The second set featured a back-and-forth battle between both teams. With Lincoln (PA) leading the set 10-9, a Lady Lion service error gave the point and the serve back to Chowan and knotted the score 10-10. The Hawks took advantage of the momentum shift and closed out the set with a 25-19 victory.
The Hawks and Lady Lions continued to battle through third and final set. With the score tied 17-17, Lincoln (PA) used two kills and a Hawk attack error to pull ahead 20-17. Chowan responded by timely kills and took advantage of Lady Lion errors and earned a 25-23 win in the third set to secure the 3-0 match victory.
Chowan will conclude their three-match road stint on Tuesday in a 7:00pm match-up against Shippensburg.
