Box Score GREENSBORO, NC- The Chowan University men's soccer team battled with the Guilford College Quakers through regulation, but fell short in a 2-1 overtime decision on Sunday afternoon.
Dale Pearson started off the contest with a goal in the 1
st minute of play off
Kendal Pressey's assist. The Hawks held on to the momentum until the 11
th minute when Christian Torres used a Angel Valencia's corner kick to knot the score 1-1.
The Hawks and Quakers battled through the rest of the first through the end of regulation. With nine seconds left in the first overtime, Mattew Poling collected a loose ball in front of the net and fired it past the goalie for the game winning score.
Guilford out-shot the Hawks 36-12 on the afternoon. Chowan keeper
Jax Eddleman made 10 saves in goal throughout the contest. The Quakers improve to 5-6-2 with the victory while the Hawks fall to 0-10.
Chowan travels to Mount Olive College on October 15
th to take on the Trojans. Game time is slated for 4:00pm.
