Box Score MURFREESBORO - The Chowan University women's basketball team fell to 2-13 overall and 2-5 in the CIAA after dropping a tough 55-50 decision to Elizabeth City State University Saturday afternoon. Despite's Talaya Lynch's double-double outing, the Lady Vikings held the Hawks at bay late in the game to hang on for their 14th win of the season.

After a neck and neck first half, the Hawks' Janelle Murphy hit a buzzer beater lay up to send the game all tied up at 24 into the halftime period. ECSU opened the second half with a lay up by Stephanie Harper to break the tie but Lynch answered by draining a three pointer on the Hawks' next possession. That narrow 27-26 lead would be the only lead the team would have for the remainder of the second half.

The Lady Vikings stretched their lead to as many as 10 points with under ten to play in the game but Chowan wouldn't go away. Kaela Nelson battled for a bucket in the paint at the 3:31 mark of the second half to pull Chowan within three points at 48-45. The Hawks were forced to foul where the Lady Vikings made good on four of four foul shots on their next two possessions to stretch their lead. They would go on to win 55-50 over the homestanding Hawks.
