Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 SHEPHERDSTOWN, WVA - The Chowan University softball team dropped a doubleheader to Shepherd University to wrap up their four-game road trip to the Northeast. Shepherd swept the Hawks with scores of 8-0 and 6-5, dropping the Hawks to 5-13 on the year. Chowan will take off the next week from competition before heading to Raleigh to play in the 2012 CIAA Softball Round Up. 

Shepherd pitching held the Hawks at bay in the first game. The Rams rolled to an 8-0 win after holding Chowan to just three hits in the game. Alora Lincoln pitched 4.2 innings and gave up 15 hits and eight runs. She also struck out four batters. Allie Kolezynski, Liz Hipple, and Amber Matthews collected one hit each in the loss. 

Chowan battled back in the second game but their comeback fell just short as the Rams took the narrow 6-5 win. With the game knotted at three each, Shepherd scored three runs in the 5th inning to gain enough runs to hold the Hawks off. The Hawks scored runs in their final two at-bats but game up just short. Chowan collected nine hits in the game. Taylor Barker went 2-2 at the plate while Megan Bass and Leigh Ward each went 1-2 with a run scored. Hipple accounted for two RBI in the game. 

Chowan (5-13, 2-0) will travel to Raleigh on Friday, March 9th for the 2012 CIAA Round Up. Log on to the athletics website to see the Round Up playing schedule.
