Hawks Take Two from ECSU

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 MURFREESBORO - The Chowan University softball team picked up a pair of wins over CIAA North Division rivals Elizabeth City State University this afternoon. Chowan won with game scores of 5-2 and 21-2 to improve to 16-23 on the year and 8-2 in CIAA play. The Hawks pounded out 22 hits over 12 innings of play to roll to the wins. 

Chowan won game one 5-2 behind Alora Lincoln's pitching. Lincoln allowed seven hits and struck out three to pick up her 9th win of the season. Leigh Ward was 2-4 to lead CU batters. The Lady Vikings held the Hawks to six hits in the first game and garnered seven of their own. ECSU's Kris Cochran and Jennifer Gray had two hits each. 

Chowan's bat came alive for the second game. The Hawks tallied 16 hits and put up 21 runs in the night cap win. Allie Kolezynski picked up the win on the mound. She threw five innings and gave up four hits. She helped herself on the mound after going 4-4 at the plate. Jordyn Peay was 2-2 with two RBI and two runs scored. Lilz Hipple was 2-3 with three runs scored and two runs knocked in. 

Chowan (16-23) will travel to Coker College on Friday and Wingate University on Sunday in their next outing.
