CU Softball Drops Pair of Close Games to Francis Marion

FLORENCE, SC – The Chowan University softball team opened up the 2012 campaign with a pair of close losses to Francis Marion University on Saturday.  FMU took game one 2-0, and the nightcap 6-5.
 
Freshman Alora Lincoln pitched well in her collegiate debut in game one.  She threw all seven innings and gave up two runs (both earned) while striking out two batters.  Offensively, Kayla Brady went 2-2 at the plate to lead the way for Chowan.
 
The Chowan offense game alive in the second game, as Megan Bass went 2-3 at the plate and drove in three runs.  Megan Wade went 2-3 at the dish, scoring one run and driving in another.  Lacey Wildeboer scored two runs and went 1-4 at the plate.
 
Allie Kolezynski pitched five strong innings, giving up three earned runs and striking out two.  Lincoln pitched one inning as well and surrendered one hit.
 
Chowan will wrap-up the Francis Marion Tournament tomorrow with match-ups against the University of Charleston (11:00am) and Virginia State University (1:00pm)
