Box Score 2 ETTRICK, VA - The Chowan University softball team opened CIAA play exactly the way they wanted to after sweeping Virginia State University in a CIAA doubleheader this afternoon. Chowan won with game scores of 6-0 and 4-1 to improve to 4-10 on the year and 2-0 in CIAA play. The Hawks pounded out 23 hits over two games while CU pitching held the Lady Trojans to just eight hits in two games.
Alora Lincoln pitched a complete-game, shut out in the 6-0 first game win. She scattered four hits and struck out three for her second win of the season. Lincoln got a little help from her teammates as they collected 13 team hits.
Lacey Wildeboer paced the Hawks after going 3-3 at the plate with two RBI and two runs scored.
Alex Allen ended the game 3-4 at the plate with two runs scored while
Amber Matthews collected two hits and one RBI.
Liz Hipple also drove in two runs for the Hawks in the win.
Allie Kolezynski went the distance in game two for her second win of the season. She gave up four hits and struck out two batters. The Hawks bats stayed hot in the nightcap as the Hawks tallied 10 hits. Matthews, Allen, and
Leigh Ward each had two hits in the win.
The Hawks will be road tested before they return home to host Pace University on March 14th. They will hit the road again this weekend with stops at Millersville University (3/2), Shepherd University (3/3), and Shippensburg University (3/4
