West Chester Takes Two from Chowan

CU Softball hosted their first annual NFCA 'Strike Out Cancer' Day Today vs. West Chester
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 MURFREESBORO - The Chowan University softball team lost a pair of games to West Chester University this afternoon. Chowan fell with final scores of 5-2 and 6-1 to move to 2-8 on the year. The Hawks were held to eight hits over 14 innings of play while West Chester capitalized offensively with 23 team hits over two games. 

Trailing 2-0 in game one the Hawks put up two runs after Allie Kolezynski and Lacey Wildeboer drove in runs with RBI singles in the third inning. After playing scoreless for the next two innings, West Chester busted the tie with three runs in their final two at-bats. Chowan couldn't get runs across the plate to close the gap and fell in game one 5-2. Kolezynski (1-2) pitched in the loss, giving up 10 hits and striking out six batters. Kolezynski and Wildeboer each ended the game at 1-3 with one RBI and one run scored.

The bats didn't get warmed up for the night cap as West Chester held Chowan to just four hits. West Chester used a four-run second inning to get on top of the Hawks. The Golden Rams pounded out 13 hits in the second game. Alora Lincoln (1-5) pitched the loss, throwing a complete game. She gave up 13 hits and struck out three in the loss. 

Chowan will hit the road for their next sixteen games, starting with UNC-Pembroke next Saturday, February 25th. They will return home on March 14th to host Pace University in a non-conference doubleheader.
