HAMPTON, VA - Two Chowan basketball players garnered CIAA weekly honors today after helping their teams to a 1-1 week in divisional play.
Ransheda Jennings was named CIAA Player of the Week on the women's side and
Kyree Bethel earned CIAA Rookie of the Week on the men's side. Bethel has been named the CIAA Rookie of the Week for three consecutive weeks.
In just two games this week, Bethel averaged 19 points per game and made nine three-pointers. Against Virginia Union, he went 7-10 from beyond the arc, leading to 23 points. He also dished out seven assists this week and shot 83% from the free throw line.
Jennings averaged 18.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 3.7 assists this week. Against VUU, she
went 15-16 from the free throw line, leading to 25 points. She also recorded five steals and five blocks this week.
The Hawks will travel to Virginia State University this Saturday in their next outing. They will hit the road for their next five games before returning home to host Virginia Union on February 13th.
