CHARLESTON, SC – CIAA Softball Player of the Year
Tricia Gorman can add one more honor beside her name: All-American. Gorman was selected to the 2011 Daktronics All-America First Team on Wednesday. She becomes the first Chowan University female student-athlete to be named an NCAA Division II All-American. The teams are voted on by the members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Gorman recorded 84 RBI this season, which was tops in NCAA Division II. She led the CIAA in a slew of other offensive categories, including hits (74), total bases (113), and sacrifice flies (5). Gorman hit .430 from the plate with 16 doubles and 7 home runs. She had an on-base percentage of .469 and stole four bases. Gorman was also stellar in the field this season, securing a .992 fielding percentage.
