Hawks Post Convincing 17-0 and 23-0 Wins over Lincoln University (PA)

OXFORD, PA – The Chowan University Softball team posted impressive 17-0 and 23-0 wins over CIAA foe Lincoln University (PA) on Monday. The Hawks tallied a total of 34 hits in 10 innings of play, while holding the Lady Lions (2-12, 2-8 CIAA) to just 5 hits. Chowan moves to 21-15 overall and 11-1 in CIAA play. 
 
The Hawks opened up an early 7-0 lead after one inning of play in the opener, and never looked back. Lacey Wildeboer capped the inning with a two-RBI single to score Liz Hipple and Liz Sill.
 
Chowan posted rare back-to-back-to-back home runs in the third inning to take a 13-0 advantage. Fahren Munro started the barrage with a two-RBI shot to left-center, and then Tricia Gorman and Mindy Byrd followed with homers of their own. 
 
The Hawks added four more runs in the fifth inning to cap the 17-0 victory. Christie Wright (7-6) picked up the win on the mound for the Hawks. She pitched all four innings, allowing four hits and striking out four Lady Lions. 
 
Fahren Munro went 2-3 at the plate, drove in a team-high three RBI, and scored two runs. Tricia Gorman went 3-4 at the plate, scoring four runs and driving in two more. Liz Hipple and Lacey Wildeboer each had two RBI. Collectively, the Hawks stole eight bases.
 
Game two produced similar results for the Hawks. A 9-run third inning and 10-run fourth led Chowan to the lopsided 23-0 victory. Allie Kolezynski (8-7) earned the win for the Hawks, pitching 5.0 innings, striking out 10 batters and allowing only 1 hit.
 
Chowan drew four walks in the game and was aided by 11 Lady Lion errors. Allie Kolezynski, Mindy Byrd, and Megan Wade each scored three runs for the Hawks. Wade and Tricia Gorman collected a team-high three hits. Fahren Munro had four RBI and stole two bases.
 
Chowan will continue their road trip as they travel to Richmond, VA for a doubleheader with Virginia Union University tomorrow, March 29th. The Lady Panthers currently sit at 6-12 overall, and 3-7 in CIAA play.
