Box Score RALEIGH - The Chowan Softball team wrapped up the 2011 CIAA Spring Round-Up with a 10-1 victory over Shaw University on Monday. The Hawks went 6-0 in the tournament and averaged 12 runs per contest.
Fahren Munro and
Megan Wade each tallied three hits for Chowan (16-10, 9-1 CIAA).
The Lady Bears held a 1-0 advantage after two innings played, but the Hawks' offense got on the board in the third.
Allie Kolezynski and
Katie Duncan scored runs in the third inning off Shaw miscues.
The Hawks added four more runs off four hits in the fourth inning to break the game open.
Megan Wade had a two-RBI double in the sixth inning to cap a four-run inning for the Hawks.
Pitchers
Allie Kolezynski and
Lacey Wildeboer combined for a one hitter. Wildeboer earned the win after pitching 3.0 inning of no-hit softball. Kolezynski scored a team-high two runs while going 2-4 at the plate. Nine different Hawks scored runs and seven different players had RBI.
Megan Wade led Chowan with 2 RBI. In all, the Hawks totaled 13 hits.
Chowan returns home to take on Shepherd University (7-5) on Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00pm at the Hawks Softball Complex.
