WILSON, NC – Despite another big night from Antonio Reddic, the Chowan University Men's Basketball team fell to Barton College 84-71 on Tuesday night.  The Hawks fall to 0-3 on the year, while Barton moves to 2-1.

Barton, the 2006-2007 Division II National Champions, was picked to finish third in the highly competitive Conference Carolinas this season.

Reddic, who was averaging 23.5 points per game coming into the game, tallied 25 tonight on 8-18 shooting.  He also grabbed a team-high 14 rebounds, to go along with five steals, four assists, and one block (all team-highs).

Mark McGlone added 12 points for the Hawks.  Barton had five players score in double figures, led by Jaren Haley's 17.

Chowan shot a higher percentage than Barton from the floor and from three-point territory, but committed 33 turnovers and shot just 53.1% from the free throw line.  The Hawks also out-rebounded Barton 42-34.

Much like their first two games this season, the Hawks got off to a slow start.  6:47 into the contest, Barton owned an 18-4 lead.  Chowan gathered themselves, though, and kept the game from getting out of hand early.

A Reddic free throw at the 5:23 mark brought Chowan back within nine at 36-27.  The Bulldogs then closed the half on a 15-6 run to take a 51-33 advantage into halftime.

Barton again jumped on the Hawks early in the second half.  A layup by two-time All-Conference Carolinas performer Gerald Boston put the Bulldogs up 70-43 with 11:26 on the clock.

Over the next 1:11, though, Chowan scored ten straight points to pull within 17.  Reddic notched seven of those ten points, while James Davis notched the other three.  Davis ended the night with nine points.

The Hawks could not get any closer, however, as Barton maintain a sizeable lead to close the game.

The Bulldogs out-scored Chowan in the paint 40-22, and off turnovers 42-22.

Chowan will now travel to the Francis Marion University Tournament where they face Coker College on Friday, November 18th at 6:00pm.
