MURFREESBORO – Chowan University registered 21 shots on goal and 33 shots as they earned their first victory of the 2011 season, a 10-0 thumping of Lincoln University (PA). Chowan is now 1-9, while the Lions fall to 0-9.
The Hawks scored early and often.
Caleb Blaize got the Hawks on the board with a goal in the sixth minute of play. Just over three minutes later,
Kenny Moore fired in a goal off an
Adam Smith pass. Moore scored again in the 19
th minute to give the Hawks a 3-0 advantage.
Smith and
Eric Nguyen scored in the 29
th and 42
nd minutes, respectively, to open up a 5-0 Chowan lead at the half. They would not stop there.
Isidro Lopez scored early in the second period from 25 yards out.
Raimond Kwarteng and
Joshua Gross scored within three minutes and ten seconds of each other midway through the period to push the lead to 8-0.
Ferdinand Meggs and
Brandon Chambers got in on the scoring action late in the period to notch the 10-0 victory.
Seven Hawks who scored today recorded their first goal of the season. Chambers posted a team-high seven shots and five shots on goal.
Ethan Phelps (one) and
Cody Coerse (two) combined in goal to record three saves.
The Hawks will host Barton College on Wednesday, October 12
th in their next match. Game time will be 4:00pm.
