MEET RESULTS
 
CARY, NC – Freshman Gerlisa Shipman led the way as the Chowan University Cross Country team competed in the HBCU Classic on Saturday, hosted at the Wake Med Soccer Park in Cary, NC.  Shipman trekked the 5k course in 22:54 to place 56^th in the 106-athlete field.  Lacey Wildeboer was not far behind in 64^th place, finishing with a time of 23:31.  Stephany Powell finished in 75^th place after crossing the line in 24:26.
 
Shaneka Sawyer ran 28:59 to finish in 95^th place.  Krystle Shifflett was fifth for the Hawks with a time of 29:36 (97^th place), and Angelica Satchell finished in 100^th place with a time of 29:56.  Chowan finished 14^th out of 17 teams in the event, which featured five Division I schools. 
 
Amber Brooks of North Carolina Central University won the race in 19:05.  Hampton University took the team title, tallying just 29 points.  The Hawks will next travel to Bowie State University on Sunday, October 9^th.
