Chowan Basketball Set to Travel to Elizabeth City State University Tonight

The Hawks will travel to Elizabeth City State University tonight
MURFREESBORO – The Chowan Men's and Women's Basketball teams will conclude their road swing tonight as they travel to Elizabeth City State University to meet their rival in CIAA action. Women will tip-off at 5:30pm, with the Men's game to follow at 7:30pm.

The Chowan Women sit atop the CIAA North Division with a 2-0 record (7-9 overall, 4-4 CIAA), and look to continue their hot streak. The Hawks have won their last three road games, as well as three of their last four contests overall. Defense has been the Hawks staple over the last two games, holding their opponents to an average of 47.5 points per game.  Their offense has not disappointed either; junior guard Ransheda Jennings is averaging 23.7 points over the past four games. As a team, the Hawks have shot 72% from the free throw line during their winning streak. The Lady Vikings come into tonight's game with a 12-6 overall record (5-3 CIAA, 1-1 North). Fans can follow tonight's game by clicking HERE for live play-by-play and statistics.

On the men's side, the Hawks (1-15, 0-8 CIAA, 0-2 North) look to earn their first CIAA win of the season. They have put together fine performances in the first half over the past four games but could not hang on for a victory. Chowan has been led by a trio of upperclassmen all year. Sophomore Quinton McDuffie, junior Mark Brown, and senior Charles Rhodes are each averaging over 10 points per contest. Chowan swept the season series last year against the Vikings, with 63-54 and 84-60 victories. Elizabeth City State enters with an 11-5 overall record (5-3 CIAA, 1-1 North). For live stats of tonight's game, click HERE.
