Box Score RALEIGH, NC - The Chowan University men's basketball program remains winless in the CIAA after falling in a tight 63-59 game to Saint Augustines College tonight. The game featured six ties and nine lead changes but it was the Falcons who would come away with the win tonight. Chowan falls to 1-12 on the year and 0-5 in the league while Saint Augustines improves to 4-9 overall and 3-2 in the league. Chowan got another double-digit performance from
Quinton McDuffie who scored a team-high 21 points.
Chowan took a one point 31-30 lead into halftime and the two teams battled out the second half. But the Falcons held off Chowan with late free throws. The Hawks shot 44% from the field after hitting 20-46 from the floor while Saint Aug's hit shots at a 43% clip. McDuffie's 21 points led all scorers and he also hauled in nine boards.
Charles Rhodes chipped in 13 points while
Travis Williams and
Anton Shoetan each scored nine points in the game.
For Saint Augustine's, Joel Kindred scored 21 points and Jon Kindred added 14 points. Chowan will play their last CIAA divisional cross over game on Thursday night with Livingstone College coming to the Helms Center. Tip for that game is set for 7:30pm. The Falcons will travel to Elizabeth City State University on Thursday night for a 7:30pm tip off.
