Virginia Wesleyan Takes Two From Chowan

MURFREESBORO - Virginia Wesleyan College took a doubleheader today from Chowan's softball team with final scores of 3-0 and 2-0. Chowan was held to five hits over fourteen innings of play. The Hawks move to 20-21 on the year after today's doubleheader loss while the Marlins improve to 18-6 overall. 

Fahren Munro and Alex Allen picked up the only hits in the 3-0 first game loss. The Marlins got on the board first in their first at- bat and added runs in the 5th and 6th innings to take the game. The hawks struck out 13 times at the plate. Allie Kolezynski picked up the loss on the mound for Chowan. She threw the complete game, giving up seven hits, three runs, and struck out five Marlin batters. 

Chowan struggled at the plate in the nightcap after collecting just three hits. Virginia Wesleyan scored two runs in their first at-bat, which was all they needed to move to the shut out win. Lacey Wildeboer pitched the loss after throwing 6.1 innings, giving up two earned runs and striking out three batters. Munro, Megan Bass , and Kolezynski each had a hit in the game. 

The Hawks will host Johnson C. Smith University in their next outing on Wednesday. First pitch is slated for 3:00pm.
