Box Score PETERSBURG, VA - The softball team advanced in the CIAA Spring Championships after shutting down Elizabeth City State University 12-0 in first round action this afternoon. Jessica Farmer pitched a one-hitter and struck out four in the win while the Hawks pounded out 14 hits of their own. The #1 seeded Hawks will face off against #2 out of the East Division, Virginia State University at 5:00pm. 

The Hawks exploded for seven runs in the bottom of the 4th inning to get the run-rule win. Fahren Munro was 2-2 with two RBI and a run scored while Tricia Gorman and Allie Kolezynski each added two hits of their own. Kolezynski scored three runs in the win and Ashley Huffman knocked in two runs. 

Chowan improves to 26-22 after today's first round win.
