Hawks Split at Mount Olive

Megan Bass had a 7th inning two-run homerun to help lift her team to a nightcap win
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 MOUNT OLIVE, NC - The softball team gained a nonconference doubleheader split today at Mount Olive College. Chowan lost the first of two games 7-1 but bounced back with a 3-2 second game victory. Megan Bass drilled a two-run homerun to left field in the top of the 7th inning to give Chowan a 3-2 nightcap win. 

Mount Olive held Chowan to four hits in the 7-1 loss with Mindy Byrd being the only Hawk to get multiple hits in the game. Byrd finished up 2-4 at the plate. Christie Wright pitched the loss after allowing five earned runs on six hits. The Hawks committed five errors in the field behind Wright, which cost them two runs. 

The Hawks trailed 2-1 heading into the top of the 7th inning. Lacey Wildeboer had a one out single to reach first base and was drove in on Bass' homerun in the next at-bat. Allie Kolezynski came in to shut down the Trojan offense in their last at-bat to solidfy the victory. 

Wildeboer pitched the first six innings of the game where she struck out five and gave up two runs on seven hits. Fahren Munro was 2-3  in the game. 

Chowan will head to the CIAA Spring Championships in Petersburg, Virginia later this week. Check back later for more details on the tournament.
