Box Score 2 MURFREESBORO - The Chowan University softball team opened 2010 CIAA play with a decisive sweep of Livingstone College this afternoon. The Hawks won with final scores of 14-1 and 22-0 to improve to 7-15 overall and 2-0 in the CIAA. The Hawks collected 28 hits over ten innings of play and had their highest run total of the season.
Lacey Wildeboer picked up her first win of the season after throwing five innings. She gave up three hits and one run while striking out six Lady Blue Bears. Whitney Hill was perfect at the plate at 3-3 with three runs scored and three RBI.
Fahren Munro continued to hit well for Chowan after finishing up 2-2 with three RBI and three runs scored in the 14-1 win. Ashley Huffman was 2-3 with two RBI.
The Hawks exploded for 14 runs in the bottom of the second inning of game two to help propel them to a 22-0 win. Chowan pounded out 14 hits in the nightcap win. Jessica Farmer evened her pitching record at 4-4 after throwing the shut out victory.
Melissa Woodrum was 3-4 with three runs scored in the win while Hill and
Allie Kolezynski were both 2-2 with four RBI.
Mindy Byrd was 2-2 and Munro was 2-3 with two runs scored and two RBI.
The Hawks will take off until Friday when they travel to Raleigh for the CIAA Softball Round Up. They are scheduled to play Lincoln at 10:00am and Bowie State at 1:00pm on Friday. A complete round up schedule can be found at www.gocuhawks.com under the softball schedule and results link.
