Box Score 2 FAYETTEVILLE, NC - Chowan's softball team improved their CIAA record to 12-0 after sweeping Fayetteville State University in a West Division twinbill this afternoon. The Hawks downed the Lady Broncos 8-2 and 15-3 to maintain the top spot in the league. Today's sweep moves the Hawks to 18-17 on the year. Chowan pounded out 18 hits over the two games and got solid pitching performances from both starting pitchers.
Chowan collected seven hits in the 8-2 first game win.
Mindy Byrd was 3-4 with six RBI and three-run homer in the top of the 6th inning. #Allie Kolezynski@ continues to swing the bat well for the Hawks and was 3-3 with four runs in the game.
Christie Wright picked up her 5th win on the mound. She threw a complete game, scattering four hits and striking out five Lady Broncos.
Jessica Farmer moved to 7-5 on the year on the mound in the 15-3 nightcap win. Farmer got some help from the Hawks' offense as they collected 11 hits over five innings. Farmer struck out four and gave up one earned run on three hits in the win.
Tricia Gorman was 2-2 with two RBI while
Fahren Munro was 2-4 with three runs scored. Ashley Huffman also collected two hits and knocked in three runs.
The Hawks will continue with CIAA play as they travel to Elizabeth City State University on Sunday afternoon for a 1:00pm doubleheader.
