RALEIGH, NC - The Chowan softball team picked up a  pair of wins over Shaw University in CIAA action this afternoon. The Hawks won with scores of 11-1 and 10-2 to move to 8-0 in league play and 14-15 on the year. Today's twinbill sweep marks the team's ninth win in a row. Christie Wright and Jessica Farmer gave up three hits each in the doubleheader to help propel the team in the afternoon wins. 

Wright picked up her fifth win of the year on the mound after throwing five innings. She struck out ten Shaw batters and scattered three hits in the win. Ashley Huffman was 2-4 with a homerun while Fahren Munro , Lacey Wildeboer , and Brooke Owen also collected two hits each. 

Farmer moved to 6-4 on the year after today's nightcap win. She gave up three hits over five innings and struck out four batters. Allie Kolezynski was 2-3 at the plate with two RBI and two runs scored while Mindy Byrd was 2-4 with two RBI. 

The Hawks will travel back to Raleigh on Saturday for a 1:00pm match up with Saint Augustine's College. They will host West Virginia State University on Sunday, March 21st at 2:00pm in a doubleheader.
