Box Score 4 RALEIGH, NC - The softball team improved their overall record to 12-15 and 6-0 in the CIAA after winning four games in second day play of the CIAA Softball Round Up. The Hawks have won five games through two days of play, including beating defending CIAA Champs, Bowie State University 6-2. The Hawks put up 46 runs today on the scoreboard with help from players like
Mindy Byrd who was 11-12 with 11 RBI.
The Hawks picked up where they left off in game one against Bowie State. The Hawks took a 4-1 lead into today's game after play was suspended in the fourth inning yesterday because of rain. Jessica Farmer pitched the final four innings in relief of
Christie Wright for the win.
Mindy Byrd was 4-4 with three runs and an RBI while
Brooke Owen was 3-3 in the 6-2 win.
Chowan pounded out 14 hits in an 11-2 win over Virginia State University in game two of the day. Byrd was once again perfect at the plate at 4-4. Owen and
Tricia Gorman each had two hits in the win.
Christie Wright pitched the win, allowing four hits and two runs.
Allie Kolezynski pitched the final two innings in relief.
The Hawks continued on their winning path with a 15-1 win over Saint Pauls and a 14-0 win over Virginia Union to round out day two play.
Lacey Wildeboer pitched a perfect game against Virginia Union.
The Hawks will play Elizabeth City State tomorrow at 11:00am.
